Holly Schwartz1. How did you cross paths with Torelli Realty?
I met Valerie Torelli last year when I was during research for a show about real estate in Orange County, and from there we explored different ideas on how she could use my skills to help the company.
2. What is your new role at Torelli Realty?
My role has two parts: media and marketing. I'm also going to help give clients advice on things like staging and remodeling their homes.
3. Has the transition of moving from the East Coast to the West Coast been easy?
I've actually lived in California for six years, but I haven't been in Orange County for very long. I lived in L.A. prior to here. It's not too different. It's a cool way of life, and the weather is beautiful.
4. Is there anything you miss about the East Coast?
I miss the change of seasons. It's nice to have the differentiation. I also went to school in Boston, so I miss the city's culture.
5. Did you always want to become a television producer?
Well, I always knew I wanted to do something with the media. And it just so happened that my first job had to do with real estate, which is also an interest of mine, so it was a great opportunity. It's been a dream come true.
6. How did you come up with concepts for your television shows?
Basically, there are several production teams that all work together and help shape the story ideas. And we have to make sure that they're suitable for a one-half hour time slot. I also helped in the selection of people as subjects for the shows.
7. If you could be on your show, "House Hunters International," which country would you pick for house hunting and why?
I would pick Italy. I went there in February. I love the culture, the architecture and the people. It's also fun to look at the houses there.
8. You're from New Jersey. What do you think about the "Jersey Shore" TV show?
I think it's hilarious and entertaining. It's really just a bunch of stereotypes that are played up.
9. What is your favorite movie?
"Up in the Air." I can really identify with it. I've had to travel for my job a lot, just like the character in the movie. And even the little things like the frequent flyer card are things that I can relate to.
10. Considering these uncertain economic times, what is your prediction for the real estate market within the next five years?
Things will turn around for sure. The market always works in cycles, and we've already hit the very bottom. So it will turn around. I also think that more people will have more money to play around with.
