"Science Nerd Series: Rockin' Geology!" at the Environmental Nature Center at 10 a.m. Participants will play a fun game to learn the difference between metamorphic, sedimentary and igneous rocks, then use a key to classify real rock samples. Using microscopes, participants will observe the differences in appearance, texture and even smell in soil samples taken from around the world. Participants will learn about and diagram ways that mountains and volcanoes are formed, then create their own mini volcano - and cause it to erupt! They will see and touch fossils in local formations dating back 70 million years ago, and make their own "fossils" to take home. For curious science minds, ages 8-11.
